Biography

Rose Abigail Nieman was born July 5, 1868 and is the eleventh child and daughter of John Nieman and Mariah Blosser.^[1] Rose grew up in West Virginia along with her eleven siblings; Catherine Elizabeth Nieman, Unnamed Infant Nieman, Melissa Bell Nieman, Frederick William Nieman, John Henry Nieman, Jr, George Alva Nieman, Mary Ellen Nieman, Daniel Webster Nieman, Rebecca Margaret Nieman, Sarah Marie 'Sadie' Nieman and Carrie Ann 'Callie' Nieman.

Rose married Reuben Waterman Eddy November 17, 1906^[2] and they made their home in Republic, Pennsylvania, Grant, West Virginia,^[3] Clairton, Pennsylvania^[4] and Redstone, Pennsylvania ^[5] until his death September 14, 1932.

Rose married Eric Arthur Frodelius July 4, 1934 and they made their home in Sugar Grove Township, Pennsylvania^[6] until his death November 19, 1944. Rose made her living at O'Neals in Shinbone (Gibbons Glade), Pennsylvania. She died December 6, 1956 and is buried in Spring Creek Cemetery, Spring Creek Township, Pennsylvania. The inscription on her tombstone reads, Rose had no children of her own, but was mother of many.^[7]

• Nieman Clan History compiled by Helen Marie (Newcomer) Maust. Aunt Helen attended most all the Nieman Family Reunions and the Frankhouser Family Reunions. She gathered information from family members who attended the Reunions over the years sharing information about family lore and updated information about each branch. Around 1980 she put information together by typewriter and created a very large document that included all of the information about the Nieman and Frankhouser clans. Both branches intertwined in various ways and trace back to the common ancestors of John Blosser who emigrated from Switzerland and was of German origin. In the following years, she provided updates after the reunions were over and she could add the new information gathered at the reunions to the document. That document has been scanned as a PDF file.
