Research Notes
There are seven or eight generations of Barnabas Wineses, beginning with the immigrant Barnabas from Ipswich, Suffolk, England in 1625. There are a number of Samuel Wineses interspersed, making identification confusing. The wills, however, provide some insight.
Captain Barnabas Wines (d. 1762), who was interred in the Old Burying Ground in Cutchogue, Suffolk, New York under a headstone inscribed with his rank[4], included only his grandchildren in his will[5], among whom appear Thomas Wines, Barnabas Wines Junior, and Ann Reeve, children of this Barnabas.
