Biography

On her second marriage record, Bertha said her parents were Jacob and Rosa White. She is probably "Burtha White" age 10 in the 1881 Census of Canada in Carleton County, NB in the household of Jacob and Roslenda White. Roslenda was Jacob's second wife. ^{[1] [2]}

Bertha and John Ross were married in Maine in 1886. Birth records for their children indicate they moved around, from Maine, to New Brunswick, Quebec, and back to New Brunswick.

In 1891, John and Bertha were living near Fredericton with three children: Pearl, Henry and Clara. John and "Berth" were in Quebec in 1901.^[3] Children were Henry, Clara, Lillian, Allice, Willie, Lucy, Maude (Mudy), Lillay, and Charley. Pearl was living in Saint John with another family.

John died in 1908.

Bertha married again, to John James Hazlett. Marriage record shows the groom as widowed. His parents are listed John and Margaret J Hazlett. The bride's name is listed as Bertha Ross (widowed). Her parents are listed as Jacob and Rosa White.

Bertha was in New Brunswick in 1911. ^[4]

Bertha said she was age 41 in 1910, and born in 1872 on the 1901 census. She could have been born in 1869.
