Biography

Oliver was born 18 April 1814 in Ipswich, Massachusetts. He was the son of Oliver Emerton (1783-abt.1815) and Harriet (Sargent) Tarr (1790-abt.1865). [1]

Oliver married Sarah (Dennis) Emerton (abt.1816-abt.1876) on 11 December 1838, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. [2]


In 1850, Oliver (age 36) and his wife Sarah (age 30) were living in Gloucester with their children: Sarah E (age 12), Harriet (age 8) , Mary (age 6), Emma (age 5), Augusta (age 4), and Delia (age 2). [3]

Oliver died at age 94 on 11 August 1908, in Gloucester, Massachusetts. [4] He is buried in the Cherry Hill Cemetery in Gloucester. [5]
