Christian Clouse was born about 1784 in Tennessee, although, some sources would indicate his birth was in Virginia. He served in the War of 1812 in the 3rd Regiment Johnson's East Tennessee Militia from 2 SEP 1814 to 3 MAY 1815. Some give his death as about 1860. He had a wife named Charlotte. According to Census Records, his occupation was as a Wheelwright.

"Christopher moved with his parents to Washington County, Tennessee around 1796 from Washington County, Virginia. Christopher paid poll tax for the first time in Washington County, Tennessee in 1809 and again in 1810 and 1811. His father died November 1910 and until October 1813 his heirs were in the process of settling his estate. Christopher seems to have been the sixth son according to all dates and records. he was co-signer to a deed selling his father's 100 acres of land in Greasy Cove on October 9, 1813. Christian was called to serve in the War of 1812 for a period of six months, and was mustered into service in Knoxville, Tennessee in the East Tennessee Militia as a Private on Sept. 2, 1814 and was discharged May 3, 1815. Immediately after his tour of duty he settled in the Powell Valley of Clairborne County, Tennessee. This area became Hancock County. On June 13, 1817 he appointed his brother-in-law as Power of Attorney to handle the affairs of his service of the War of 1812. He was then living in Clairborne County, Tennessee.
