Biography

Frederick William Dodd was born on 8 September 1829, subsequently christened 8 May 1830, in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England. He was the son of James Dodd and Louisa Parkhurst.^[1][2]

In 1841 at age 12 he lived in Holgate, York, England with his parents and brother, James, and older children by his mother's first marriage.^[3]

Frederick married Maria Mayes in 1860 in Victoria, Australia ^[4] and together they had seven children:

Frederick died in Stawell, Victoria, Australia on 14 March 1874, aged 44^[5], and was buried in the Stawell Pleasant Creek Public Cemetery, Stawell, Northern Grampians Shire, Victoria.^[6]

Research Notes

• Frederick migrated to Australia on 13 April 1850 on the SS Francis Ridley arriving at Port Adelaide 4 August 1850. He married Maria Mayes in Victoria in 1860
• The 1841 Census on Ancestry has his name incorrectly transcribed as "Ledan". The FS transcription has his name more correctly as "Frederic" but has messed up the location which is not Leeds but the City of York.
