- appears that Marshal went to live near his uncle/cousins in TX at some point prior to 1860 & stayed until after 1862 (since Francis was born in TX) probably was there during the Civil War.

- it appears that sons Jos E & David G on the 1860 census in TX did not survive to show on the 1870 census back in TN.

- all children show father b. TN & mother SC, but Jessie was born to Elizabeth prior to her death. Also it appears that Lilla did not survive to show on the 1880 census.
