Biography

John was born 23 Nov 1686.[1]

He married 18 Dec 1711 at Woodstock Elizabeth Child[2]. Text: "John May of Woodstock and Elizabeth Child of Brookline were Maryed by the Revrd Nehemiah Walter Decembr 18th 1711."

"Woodstock, June 19. Yesterday about 3 or 4 in the Morning, the House of Capt John May was struck with lightning, which shattered one end of it from the top to the windows in the lower room, and did considerable damage to it. In its progress it broke thro' on of the Chamber windows, in which four of the Captain's sons lay, [the son] about 30, was struck dead in an instant; one of his brothers that lay in the same bed was burnt upon one of the sides and one leg; the lad that lay in the bed at their feet, was also pretty much scorched on his back and one of his thighs; the Capt. and his wife being asleep in the room below, the lightning broke thro' the window, and struck the woman so that she was thought for some time to be dead, but thro' divine goodness she is in part recovered, and the others are likely to get well."[3]

He died 01 Mar 1770 at Woodstock.[4][5]
