Ozina was born in 1834. She is the daughter of William Lewis and Lucinda Roller. She is listed with her parents on the 1850 Census in Scott County, Virginia.^[1] On the 1860 Census she is listed with her mother and her stepfather as Roszina^[2] in the same area of Scott County. She is mistakenly listed as Rosanna Horton (her brother William Lewis is also listed with the surname Horton) on the 1870 Census^[3] and on the 1880 Census she is listed correctly as Ozina Lewis.^[4] Ozina passed away at the age of 53 in May of 1888 in Scott County, Virginia.^[5]

It is believed that Ozina never actually married but had two children with Ira Pendleton Robinette (1835–1929). Their children known children are Harmon Robinette Lewis (1868–1908) and Mary E Lewis (1875–1931). Harmon is listed as Harmon Horton on the 1870 Census and both children are listed correctly in her household on the 1880 Census. Their assumed father was identified through Mary's death certificate in 1931^[6] in which she is listed as Mary Lewis Robinette.
