John Grierson was born circa 1490 in Dumfriesshire, Scotland to Sir Roger Grierson and Agnes Douglas.

Sir John served his uncle Cuthbert and had sasine of Rock Hall on 7 November 1514 and sasine of Lag on 9 November 1514.

Marriages and Children

Sir John married Nicolas Herries, daughter of Robert Herries on 12 Mar 1529 at Lag Tower.

John and Nicolas had 3 known children:

1. William Grierson, 7th Lord of Lag. (1529 - 1562)
2. Nicolas Grierson.
3. Janet Grierson. This child must have been born prior to 1548.

After his wife Nicola died, Sir John married Egidia Kennedy, the daughter of John Kennedy and Janet Stewart on 20 Aug 1548.

Records indicate that Egidia died in 1550, two years after their marriage. There is no way she had six children in that timeframe.
