William was baptised 17 Apr 1748, Pitsford, Northamptonshire, England^[1]. William died 6th November 1808, Much Marcle, Herefordshire, England^[2].

William Money (1748-1808) married Mary Webster and they shared a happy and affectionate family life with their six sons and seven daughters, all but two of whom survived to adulthood. He appears to have taken a keen interest in the management of his estates, and many documents in the collection are endorsed in his characteristic handwriting. On his death, his son William described his life as having been "a long course of unequalled worth". National Archives - BRIEF SYNOPSIS OF THE DESCENT OF THE MONEY-KYRLE ESTATES ^[3]

His family: James Money, William's father became Major in the Army, and eventually gained the post of Lieutenant Colonel; he married Eugenia Stoughton. Of their children, only one, William Money, survived and he married Mary Webster – they went on to have a whopping family of 13 children, only losing two along the way! Of these children, the eldest son James Money took over the estates in 1808. He followed the family tradition and went into the army, eventually becoming Major ^[4]

He was born 23 February 1748 [Ruvigny/Burke 1965] in Pitsford, Northamptonshire [IGI]. He was christened in Pitsford [William Miller]. He died 6 November 1808 [Ruvigny/Burke 1965] or in 1813 [A Plantation Family]. He is buried in Much Marcle [Vere Carpenter]. There is a memorial to him and his wife at Much Marcle [Brian Money]. He was resident at Pitsford, Northamptonshire; Homme House, Herefordshire; and Whetham, Wiltshire [Ruvigny/Burke 1965] and at Much Marcle [Burke 1965]. He was Captain in the 43rd Regiment [Vere Carpenter]. He spent much time and money trying to find out about his grandfather, Francis Money, but to no avail [Vere Carpenter]. In 1807 he was Patron of the church at Much Marcle, when his son, Kyrle Ernle Money was installed as vicar [Brian Money]. He married 11 February 1771 [Burke 1965/IGI] in Stockton-on-Tees, Durham [IGI] Mary Webster, daughter of William Webster, of Stockton-on-Tees [Ruvigny]. She was born circa 1744 [Vere Carpenter]. She died 20 June 1813 [Ruvigny]. There was issue of the marriage.
