Norman Leslie, Master of Rothes. Born about 1518, to George Leslie, 4th Earl of Rothes and his first wife, Margaret Crichton, the illegitimate daughter of William, third Lord Crichton, by the Princess Margaret Stewart. [1]
He receives, in resignation from his father, the lands and barony of Ballinbreich.
He was, on 29 May 1546, a leader in the assassination of Cardinal Beaton, and his estates were forfeited.
He married (contract 13 December 1546) Isobel, daughter of John, fifth Lord Lindsay of the Byres, but died without lawful issue.
He had two sons, Robert and John Leslie, legitimated on 25 February 1553-54.
Norman entered the French service, and was grievously wounded, after a brilliant display of valour, at the battle of Renti on 31 August 1554, dying fifteen days afterwards.
