He is the son of Joseph Roture dit Belisle (1836-1898) and Rosalie Seguin (1844-1921)

In 1881, he appears, age 5, one of 8 childrren in Iberville, Iberville, Quebec, Canada ^[1]

When married in 1898 he was a weaver and she was a speeder tender (cotton mill).

In 1899 he enlisted at Fall River. He shows his birth as St. John's, Canada. ^[2]

In 1900 he is listed as a private stationed in Plattsburg, NY, residence Fall River, Mass. ^[3]. It indicates he immigrated to the U.S. in 1881.

He is mentioned in his mother's obituary in 1915

His 1917 draft registration shows he is employed at Shore Mill as a weaver, in Fall River. His nearest relative is Rose Belisle ^[4]

They divorced and she remarried in 1911.

The following is uncertain. The record indicates it is his first marriage. His age, 32, makes his birth as 1879. Also the marriage record indicates it is his first marriage. Also, the marriage occurred in Lowell, some distance from the Fall River area, although both were textile centers. His 1817 draft record lists his residence as Fall River. The marriage date is consistent with Mary Kenney's second marriage. Some of the children were born in New Bedford area.

George Belisle married Rose (Delvina) Robitaile 19 Oct 1911 in Lowell, Mass. ^{[8] [9]} He was 32 and she was 26. She was born in Biddeford, Maine, the daughter of John and Julia Donnelly

There is another George Belisle b abt 1875 in Canada and Delima (Delvina?) b. 1884, living in Fall River in 1920, with children Hazel and ages 7 and 6 ^[10].

There are Delima and Delvina Belisle's appearing in 1920 Census in Fall River and Rhode Island

A George 'Belisle is listed in the 1915 Central Falls, Rhode Island census, birth west 1878 U.S. ^[13]

There is some uncertainty with his second? wife, the marriage record indicates his first marriage. Two of the children were born in Lowell about 80 miles north of New Bedford. George's mother lived for some time in Lowell. In his 1899 enlistment he shows his residence as Fall River. Perhaps they visited family for the birth of the first children?

Further research is needed to confirm these are same individuals. It is strange that census records haven't been located.

Another George born 1891 in 1940, New Bedford, Bristol, Mass with daughter Aurora ^[14]. The same census page lists separately brothers Arthur and Henry Belisle, b. 1895 and 1898.
