Biography

Obit~~ Bangor Daily News WOODROW WILSON HANDY, PHILLIPS – Woodrow Wilson Handy, 90, died Feb. 3, 2010, at Franklin Memorial Hospital, Farmington, with his wife and children by his side. He was born Feb. 24, 1919, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Francis and Rose (Bennett) Handy of Guilford, Conn. Woodrow was a veteran of World War II, and spent many years working on road and dam construction before retiring from Fayscott Landis machine shop in Dexter. He was an avid outdoorsman; spending many hours fishing, hunting, camping and snowmobiling. He was a longtime member of Garland Volunteer Fire Department. After moving to Phillips in 1999, he was active in the local senior citizen group. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Lewis) Handy of Phillips; daughter, Jeanne Baker of Phillips; son, Bruce Handy and his wife, Sharrie, of Exeter; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and brother, Raymond Handy and his wife, Doris, of Guilford, Conn. He was predeceased by his oldest son, Robert. Memorial services will be held when the lupines are in bloom.

He is buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Garland, Penobscot County, Maine, USA MEMORIAL ID # 136442786 ·
