Biography

Church of Ireland Clergy

Edward Nwenham Hoare was born in 1802. He was the son of John Hoare and Rachel Newenham.

He was educated by Dr White and entered Trinity College Dublin on 1 November 1819, aged 18. B.A. 1824, M.A. 1839. [1]

Ordained by Bishop Byder of Lichfield as Curate of Parwich.

Curate in 1825 at Parwich and Alsop en le Dale in Derbyshire. In 1827 he was in Edgeworthstown, County Longford.

He was Archdeacon of Ardfert from 1836 to 1839, then Dean of Achonry from 1839 to 1850; and Dean of Waterford from 1850 until his death.

Edward married (1) Louisa Maria O'Donoghue, eldest daughter of Lieutenant Colonel Daniel O'Donoghue, on 28 February 1832.

Tuesday, at Portarlington, by the Rev. J. Wolseley, the Rev. Edward Newenham Hoare, son the late Rev, John Hoare, Chancellor and Vicar General of the Diocese of Limerick, to Louisa Maria, daughter Lieutenant-Colonel O'Donoghue, some years Brigade Major in the garrison of Limerick, and at present Chief Magistrate of Police in the Queen's County.

Louisa died in 1858.

Edward married Harriet Crump, second daughter of Colonel George Crump of Alexton, in Liecestershire, and widow first of John Wilson Sheppard, Esq., of Campsey Ashe, Suffolk, and secondly widow of the Honourable and Reverend Robert Wilson, Rector of Ashwellthorpe, Norfolk, on 23 June 1859.

June 23, at the Lea Church, near Ross, Herefordshire, by the Rev. Wm. Worth Hoare, Incumbent of St. Paul's, Staleybridge, the Very Rev. Edward Newenham Hoare, Dean of Waterford,to Harriet, widow of tho Hon. and Rev. Robert Wilson, late Rector of Ashewethorpe, Norfolk, second son of the late Right Hon and Rev. the Lord Berners.

They had no children

He died on 1 February 1877, in Upper Norwood, Surrey, England, at the age of 74 and was buried at Norwood Cemetery.

Death Notice - 07 February 1877, Northern Whig, Belfast, Antrim.

February I, at Luranah Villa, Hamlet Road, Upper Norwood, the Very Rev. Edward Newenham Hoare, Dean of Waterford, aged seventy-four years.
