Biography

Samuel Fay settled on his father's land in Southboro, Massachusetts where he had a family of 25 children recorded. This is the largest Fay family on record. He had two wives and by his first wife had 14 children and by his second wife 11 children, the youngest died when only an infant.

He was over 70 years old when the youngest child was born. Morse says of him "his first wife died after delivering to him 14 children in 20 years giving him the privilege of marrying another wife which he was patriotic enough to embrace, by whom he had 11 more."

In 1756 his sons Solomon and Samuel were in the King's service at "Crown Point" as soldiers.

His wife was his cousin, Deliverance Shattuck, and his mother was Tabitha Ward, and his children had Fay, Shattuck, Ward, and Brigham blood, as his grandmother was Mary Brigham. [1]

Samuel Fay and Deliverance Shattuck were married December 15, 1726 in Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts. [2] Deliverance died on January 11, 1754 in Westborough. [3]

Samuel Fay and Elizabeth Hastings Cutter were married on April 6, 1756 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts.[4]
