Biography

John ap Thomas of Treown was the son and heir of Thomas ap David ap Jenkin of Treowen, who married Margaret, daughter of Morgan Kemeys. In 1482, John married Anne, daughter of David[1] ap Gwillim Morgan, Esq., of Arxton, co. Hereford. (William was their first-born son and heir.)[2]

Children of John ap Thomas by Ann ferch Dafydd:[3]

from his son William's profile:

"William ap John Thomas (fl. 1556) of Treowen, Monmouthshire, alias William Jones, was the first of his family to assume a surname, and left issue by four wives and at least one concubine. William's eldest son, John Jones (d. pre 1609), succeeded his father at Treowen. Blanche, the only child of William's first marriage, had Castell Arnallt and married Rowland Morgan of Machen, Monmouthshire. The property devolved on their descendants, the Morgan family, barons Tredegar. Philip Jones (d. 1603), John's half-brother... was MP for the Monmouth boroughs 1588-1593."[5]

Another reference says that Blanch who married Rowland Morgan was the daughter of "John Thomas, of Llanarth."[6]
