Biography

A William Vaden (or Voden) lived in Smith, Tennesse, in 1820[1]

He died there age 83 in August of 1849, a widower, cause of death "old age."[2]

One family history states: "Daniel Dugan married Catharine Vaden on 10 April 1808, at Little Prairie, MO, on the banks of the Mississippi River. This little settlement, also known as La Petite, was located at a point a short distance from the present town of Caruthersville. It was destroyed by a series of earthquakes in 1811-1812. Catharine Vaden, born in Shelby County, KY, was the daughter of William Vaden, Jr. and his first wife, yet unidentified. Her father's second wife was Hanna Johns."[3]

Research Notes

To date, no primary source can be found verifying William Vaden's relationships. He appears to be perpetuated by Ancestry.com's shared trees and other secondary attributions almost exclusively. It is certainly possible that his ancestors were William (sometimes John) Vaden and Catherine English, but this needs verified.
