Most Looper genealogies show Joseph being born around 1765, in either Buncombe County or Iredell County, North Carolina. Unfortunately, neither existed in 1765. Buncombe County (Bun) formed from Burke (Bur) & Rutherford Counties (Ru) in 1791, and Iredell County didn't exist until 1788.
