Boyer estimates his birth as, say, 1130, given his father Iorwerth's birth as, say, 1100, his grandfather Cynon's birth as, say, 1070, and his great-grandfather llywarch's birth as, say, 1030. [1]
Geneagraphie gives a birth year of about 1139 in Rhos, Denbighshire, Wales. [3]
Parentage
Boyer shows him as the son of Iorwerth ap Cynon ap Llywach Howlbwrch and a daughter of Ithel ab Einudd of Dyffryn Clwyd. [1]
He was the son of Iorwerth ap Cynan, b. abtg 1114, Denbighshire. His mother was NN ferch Ithel, b. abt 1118, Dyffryn Clwyd, Denbighshire.[3][5]
1168 First Marriage
Before 1168 Llywarch married Tangwystl ferch Llywarch, who was born about 1143 in Menai, Ynys Mon (Anglesey), Cymru (Wales)[5][3]
He married first Tangwystl ferch llywarch of Menai, ap Bran. Menai was on the strait between the mainland and Anglesey. The strait was once the site of great carnage in battle. [1]
Second Marriage to Gwladus
Llywarch married secondly Gwladus ferch Heilin [1][5]
Issue
Boyer believes the first child Tangwystl, is from the first marriage and the mother of the remainder is not known. [1]
The Turner-Thonas site reports grandchildren for each of the children, all of whom are presumed to be from the first marriage.[5]
Tangwystl Goch ferch Llywarch Goch of Rhos was born about 1168 in Rhos, Dinbych, Cymru[5] Tangwystl Goch ferch Llywarch Goch, b. abt 1168, Rhos, Denbighshire, d. 1201-1209.[3] She was the "amica" of Prince llywelyn ab Iorwerth of North Wales, who received land in Dinascadfel, Llanefydd, from Hoedlyw ab Ithel, and gave it to his amica, Tangwystl Goch, who in turn sold it to her brother, Cynon ap Llywarch, in whose family it stayed.
