John emigrated to the Colony of Victoria (now State of Victoria, Australia) from Dublin, Ireland, in Feb 1849 on the ship Stag[7] [Note: this date disagrees with that on the death certificate of 1847.]
Marriage
John Beale married Mary Ann Dutton, second daughter of Thomas Dutton of Glenroy at St Paul's church, Broadmeadows, Colony of Victoria, (now State of Victoria, Australia) 17 Jan 1877; the marriage celebrant was Rev WW Mantell, assisted by Rev RB Rodda.[13][14][15][16][17][18][8]
1845: At the time of his baptism at the Cloghran-Swords Church John and his family probably lived to the north of Dublin. 1858: Lived at Glenroy, Colony of Victoria 1877-1897: Lived at Keilor, Colony of Victoria 21 Feb 1877 to 1906: 'Shelton', 24 Ardmillan Road Moonee Ponds, Colony of Victoria (which was later re-numbered 18).[28]
John named his Australian home and his boat 'Shelton' and his son Arthur Beale and grandson John Douglas Beale named their farm 'Shelton Park'. Shelton Park was an area south-west of Dublin which has now been overtaken by Greater Dublin. There are still two street names bearing the 'Shelton' name in the area.
John's farm 'Shelton was located between Milleara Rd and Rachelle Rd in Keilor, Colony of Victoria.[29]

Research notes
On 4 Jun 2019 I visited the National Records Office in Dublin, Ireland and consulted a professional genealogist for information about John Beale and his family. She consulted various data bases the access to which, she claimed, was restricted, but she could find no information further to what I already had. She suggested that John might have been one of the 'Scots Irish' or 'Ulster Scots' brought to Ireland by the English to provide labour on farmland they had settled and to displace the original Irish labourers.
