Sarah was born about 1846. She is the daughter of James Blair and Anne Dailey. [1]
About 1846-47 (C), Sarah was born. Although the 1871 Census had her born about 1849 and her marriage registration had her born about 1852, she was born before her sister Hannah who was born in 1848 (D). In the 1851 Census she was recorded as Sarah and in 1861 as Ann.
In 1872, Sarah of Albion Twp. witnessed her brother, Charles’ marriage.
On July 4, 1876 (M), Sarah Ann married William John Smyth in Bolton, Albion Twp. Sarah was 24 and Methodist. William was 21, a mason, of Albion Twp., Anglican and born in England to John and Clara Smyth. The Rev. W. H. Clarke performed the ceremony which was witnessed by George Modelet of Barrie. Sarah’s parents were recorded as Charles and Sarah Ann Blair.
The 1881 Census, Chinguacousy Twp., Peel Co., recorded William Smyth, age 27, English, and Sarah Ann Smyth, 25, Scottish, both born Ontario and C/E.
The couple was not found in the 1891, 1901, or 1911 Censuses, possibly because the Smyth name was too common.
William and Sarah Smyth were last recorded in the 1881 Census, Chinguacousy Twp., Peel Co., Ontario, Canada.
