Biography

Henry Tyler Brown, born 9 Jun 1830 ^[1] at Preston, Connecticut, was the first child of Louisa Tyler (Ames) Brown (1808-1870) and Asher Palmer Brown (1803-1875) ^[2].

He married about 1863, Mrs. Elizabeth B. (Haskell) Saunders. No children proceeded from this union.

Henry T. Brown was a member of Gorham Company & Brown, located on Westminster St., Providence, Rhode Island. The business later became Brown & Rogers, then Henry T. Brown & Company. They were prosperous in jewelry and silverware. Mr. Brown's interest in the business was sold to Tilden & Thurber, after which he raised livestock, then went into the insurance business (Equitable Assurance Co.).

Henry Tyler Brown died 25 Oct 1893 in Providence, Rhode Island. His grave is in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island, USA ^[3].
