Biography

James Gano was born about 1740 in Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He was the son of Isaac Gano and Jane Gulick.

James married Rebecca Brannon about 1768 in New Jersey. The names o their children were Sarah, Daniel, Stephen, Catherine, Naomi, Mary, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Amy.

James is identified as SAR Patriot # P-163907 and DAR Patriot #A043532 in the Sons of the American Revolution and Daughters of the American Revolution patriot databases for his service in "assisting in collecting goods belonging to persons gone to the enemy" (sources: SAR, DAR).

James passed away on 26 Sept 11803 in Berkeley County, West Virginia.
