Reuben Bishop, son of Joshua Bishop and Wealthy, was born Jan 27 1784 in Norwich, New London, Connecticut [1] . Received a pension for his services in the War of 1812. He started as a Private [2] and was elected captain of the Militia Company in the town of Lisbon, Connecticut. Subsequently he was made a deacon of the Newent Church, serving several years till the time of his death. [3]
Reuben married 1st Abigail Adams. She was born Oct 31 1781 and died Oct 3 1827. Abigail Adams was a daughter of Captain John Adams of Canterbury, who served through the War of the Revolution. [3]
Reuben and Abigail had the following children in Lisbon, New London, Connecticut: [4]
