Feinaglian was a private boarding and day school (opposite Emmet Hotel, was Shannon Square now Emmet Square), principal Edward B Trenor AB (TCD); offered Greek, Latin, English, Antiquities & Ancient Geography, Modern Geography, Euclid, Algebra, etc; no corporal punishment (Ref 5). Gregor Von Feinagle (1765? – 1819) of Luxembourg wrote The New Art of Memory (1812) and Dublin had a Feinaglian Institute set up in 1813 with the object of “the improvement of education for the higher classes of society” (ref 2).
3. There appear to be two baptismal records for William. One is an individual entry under the name of Wm Gallwey of 25 Mar 1830, the other as part of a consolidated list mentioned in the profile of Gallwey-44 as 28 Mar 1830. The latter is supect due to appearing to have been added later so I have opted for the former as dob.
