Martha Ellen Horner was born about 1863 and was described by a relative as being quite beautiful. She was married (1st) to Dr. John L. Bone on January 6, 1879, and they had at least one child who was born to them on September 2, 1882. The child, Luna Pearl Bone, died on September 12, 1885. Dr. Bone died shortly thereafter and was buried in the Bone Cemetery near the Perry-Humphreys Counties boundary.
After the death of her husband, John Bone, Martha Ellen was married (2nd) to her brother-in-law, Matthew J. Gray, on April 22, 1890, in Humphreys County. They moved to Oregon in 1902 and both of them died there. They had five children: Claude, Arnold, Claytie, George, and Eloise. Arnold and George died when they were quite young and were buried in the Wyley Cemetery at Waverly, Tennessee.
