Biography

Born about 1693, Henry Drax was the eldest son of Thomas Drax (formerly Shatterden) of Pope’s Common, Hertfordshire, Ellerton Abbey and Barbados and his wife Elizabeth Ernle,[1] daughter of Edward Ernle of Etchilhampton in Wiltshire. He was educated at Eton 1706-7 and at Magdalene College, Cambridge.
