Biography
When Benjamin Brown Cole was born on March 6, 1808, in Shady Valley, Tennessee, his father, Capt Jesse Cole, was 26 and his mother, Celia Brown, was 22. He married Dilla Lloyd on November 2, 1826, in Washington County, Virginia. Soon after the marriage they settled in Stony Creek, Tennessee. They had 12 children in 22 years. Benjamin fought in the Civil War and was discharged in 1865. He was appointed Postmaster of Stony Creek in Oct of 1868 and served in that capacity until March of 1876. He had a farm there and lived there his entire life. He died on July 6, 1905, at Buladeen, Carter, Tennessee, United States at the impressive age of 97. A burial location has not been found but possibly buried at his farm.
