Biography

Eleanor was born in 1767, at Argyle, Washington County, New York and came from a family of five. She was a member of the "Seceder Church," Scottish Presbyterian in descent. In the same year they were married, John and Eleanor settled in Kortright, Delaware County, New York. It was to be about 11 years later on April 7, 1796 she would die in childbirth at the age of 30 in Kortright, Delaware County, New York. Including the two infants (unnamed) that died at birth (one at her death) she bore John seven children, all in Kortright.^[1]
