Nicholas Lechmere, was born in 1675 the son of Edmund Lechmere of Hanley Castle in Worcestershire, and his wife, Lucy Hungerford. [1]
He was educated as a lawyer, at Merton College Oxford, then called to the bar in 1698 as a member of the Middle Temple. He was created 1st Baron Lechmere of Evesham on 4 Sep 1712. He was a MP for Appleby, Cockermouth and Tewksbury, and in 1714 he was appointed Solicitor-General, followed by Attourney-General, Privy Counsellor and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster in 1718.[1]
In 1719 he married Lady Elizabeth Howard, daughter of Charles Howard, 3rd Earl of Carlisle and his wife, Anne Capell. [1] No children were born to the marriage. [1]
Nicholas died suddenly on the 18th of June 1727 at Campden House in Kensington, [1] and was buried at the family home at Hanley Castle, Worcestershire. On his death, his title became extinct.
