John Percival Postgate, son of John Postgate & Mary Anne, was born in 1853 ^[1] and baptised on 27 December 1853 in Birmingham, St Martin in the Bull Ring, Warwickshire, England. At the time of his christening, his father was a surgeon and the family was living in Frederick Street, Harpers Hill.^[2]
