Peter Jolly died in 1741 aboard a British Ship having fought in the War of Jenkins Ear for Great Britain. In return for his service he was granted 50 acres of land in Edgecombe Co., NC for each member of his family. He fought for Gooch's American Regiment which was disbanded in October 1742 which is also the year his property probate was made by his wife Rachell.. For more information on the regiment refer to the listed source for the history of the regiment while engaged in the War of Jenkin's Ear. On the musters for the British ship there is a Peter Jolly and a Peter Jolley who are the same person as proven by the land grants given to the volunteers.
Military Service
Peter fought in the War of Jenkins Ear for Great Britain. He was in the 4th Battalion of Colonel Gooch's Regiment. He was Discharged in April 1741, and died at sea on the return voyage in May 1741.
