OBITUARY. Mr. Hugh Hamersley, of Pyrton Manor, Oxfordshire, formerly High Sheriff of that county, died on Nov. 2, at Southsea. The deceased was the second son of the late Mr. Hugh Hamersley. of Pyrton Manor, and of
Sandgate, Kent, by his marriage with Margaret, daughter of Mr. John Bevan, of Clifton, and was born in 1813.
He was educated at Harrow and at Trinity College, Cambridge, was a Magistrate and Deputy Lieutenant for Oxfordshire, and formerly chairman of quarter sessions for that county. He served as high sheriff in 1840. Mr. Hamersley married, in 1835, Mary Anne, daughter of Mr. John Phillips, of Culham, Oxon, was left a widower in 1877, and was an elder brother of the late Mr. Edward Hamersley, of Pyrton, near Guildford.
