Biography
Barry Fox was born about 1789. He was 18 when he joined the 27th Foot as an Ensign in January 1807. He progessed to Lieutenant with the 1st Royals the following year, and Captain in the 4th West India Regiment in 1815.[1] In 1841 he was appointed a Major.[2]
Barry married Sophia Edgeworth (born in Edgeworthstown, Mostrim, County Longford, Ireland in 1803; died in Clifton, Bristol, England, United Kingdom in 1836), daughter of Richard Lovell Edgeworth and Frances Anne Beaufort, in 1824.[1]
Known children of the marriage are:
- Maxwell, born 13 May 1826, he married twice, his second marriage was in 1886 to Edith Edgeworth,[3] he died at Foxhall in 1900[4]
- Mary Anne, born 1 January 1828
- Charlotte (Fox) Coote (1830 - 1905).
Barry died on 6 Nov 1863 in Dover, Kent, England, United Kingdom aged 74. [5][6] His son Maxwell was his Executor.[7]
