Biography

James Hersey was born on December 12, 1758, in Abington, Massachusetts, the child of James and Betty [4]. He married Alathea Pool on March 20, 1781, in his hometown [5]. They had twelve children during their marriage. He died on March 27, 1846, in Sumner, Maine, having lived a long life of 87 years, and was buried there. [2]

James Hersey served in the Revolutionary War in 1775 when he was 17 years old. He was in Valley Forge[1] [7]

He was a private in the War of 1812. [6]
