Redmond Stapleton was born about . . . . ,
An English Catholic (who may have come to Ireland with Cromwell although the family had links to Ireland long before this time [1] who had lands at Thurlesbeg, County Tipperary. The Stapleton Family had roots in Yorkshire (see monmumental inscription for Redmond's son, Edmund).
Redmond Stapleton married the daughter of Cornelius Fogarty Esq of Devey.
Redmond possibly had a fourth son also in the Leeward Islands (see the letter from William Freeman to Colonel William Stapleton dated August 1684 where Freeman complains to the colonel that a "third" brother has possession of Edmund Stapleton's estates in Montserrat and not Redmond the younger).[2]
