Biography

Christina was born in 1777, the eldest daughter of John George Benfer and Mary Catherine Scharff. She and her brother George B. Benfer were twins.

She married Peter Brous in 1799 in Liverpool, Perry County, PA. He was the son of John Adam Braus Jr. and Anna Catherina Rothermel. Their children included:

1. George Brous (1801-1879)
2. Mary Brous (abt 1805-1890)

She is referred to as "Teany" (short for Christina) in her father George's will. She and the other children of Mary Catherine Scharff Benfer inherited a tract of land in Buffalo Township, Union County, Pennsylvania. This was part of a land warrant issued to Mary Catherine's father Conrad Scharf in 1771 and inherited by Mary Catherine. In 1822, Christina and her siblings transferred the land to Christina's husband, Peter Brous. The transaction was recorded in Union County on 20 March 1822.

Peter died at age 75 in 1847. Christina died at age 89 in 1866 and was buried next to her husband in Liverpool Union Cemetery, Liverpool, Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA.
