Biography

Born the 6 December 1861 in Napoli^[1], general, promoted chief of general staff the 8 November 1917, Armando Diaz led the Royal Italian Army to victory in the decisive and conclusive battle of World War 1, the Battle of Vittorio Veneto. After the victory, he signed the Bollettino della Vittoria, the victory address whose text can be read in commemorative plaques exposed in every town hall and military barracks of Italy. After the war he was promoted Field Marshal, then Marshal of Italy, appointed Senator, then Minister of the War, and In 192 King Victor Emmanuel III ennobled him raising him as a duke, giving him the victory title of 1st Duca della Vittoria ("Duke of the Victory"). Passed away in Rome the 29 February 1928^[2]
