Biography

George Hanks was a Connecticuter.

George Rodney Hanks, son of Rodney Hanks and Olive Freeman, was born in Connecticut, USA in 1808.^[1]

He married Elizabeth Ward in Connecticut in 1831. ^{[citation needed]}

Known children of the marriage:

1. Filo George Hanks (c.1832)
2. John Samuel Hanks (c.1834)
3. Mary Hanks c.1839-1851)^[2]
4. Henry Ward Hanks (c.1841)
5. Helen Hanks (c.1851)
6. Wilber Fisk Hanks (c.1852)

By 1850 they were living with their first four children in Tolland, Connecticut.^[3]

Two children remained at home with them in 1870.^[4] He was listed in 1880 US census in Mansfield, Connecticut as a 72 year old silk manufacturer.^[5][6]

He died in Connecticut in 1889,^[7] and was buried in the Gurleyville Cemetery.^[8]
