Jesse Sizemore was born about 1795, son of Ephraim Sizemore and Winifred Hart.[citation needed] [Find Ephraim's 1836 Spartanburg, South Carolina probate records which supposedly names son Jesse.]
The evidence that Jesse is a son of Ephraim is found in Ephraim's probate, transcribed below.
Spartanburg Co., SC Probate File 334 - EPHRAIM SIZEMORE Petition of STEPHEN SIZEMORE - EPHRAIM SIZEMORE late of Spartanburg District, died leaving the following children - towit JOHN SIZEMORE, JESSE SIZEMORE, RICHARD SIZEMORE, EPHRAIM SIZEMORE, SUSAN SIZEMORE (crossed out), SALLY KITCHEN's children and ANNA SMITH, together with your petitioner. 104A land in said District subject to partition and distribution among the above named heirs. The petitioner has purchased the interest and shares of ROBERT SMITH, the husband of ANNA, and also from JESSE SIZEMORE and JOHN SIZEMORE.

The 1820 census record for all eastern counties of Tennessee were lost.[2]

Research Notes
The following is from Joy (Wright) King, former WikiTree member and direct descendant of Jesse and his third wife Polly, former profile manager of this profile.
This Jesse did *not* have a middle name!
His death date is unknown, but it’s highly likely he died in SC.
mtDNA testing has proven that Dianna Stephens (Jesse's 1st wife) is not the same person as Mary "Polly" (--?--) Jesse's 3rd wife! See FTDNA Sizemore DNA results:
# 520237 Margaret (--?--) Sizemore [Jesse's 2nd wife]
#134211 Sarah C. (Sizemore) Wright [dau of Polly (--?--) Jesse's 3rd wife]
About 1907, Jesse's grandson, James Sizemore submitted an application to be considered Eastern Cherokee; about Jesse, it said:
ECA #30986 is the application of a man named James Sizemore. James stated that he was the son of John J Sizemore and Elizabeth Reynolds ... He only knew the names of two grandparents, Jesse Sizemore on his father's side (whom he claimed had lived to be 115 and died in the early 1840s) and Sooky Toney on his mother's side. He listed his father's [Sizemore] siblings [therefore offspring of Jesse] as Ephraim, Edward, Alfred, and William, all of Granville, South Carolina and all also dead by 1907.[8]
Note: the "died in the early 1840s" is inaccurate since we find Jesse in census records through 1860.
Note: the ECA states the location is "Granville, South Carolina". This is an error on the part of the submitter of the ECA. In 1798 Granville Co, SC was abolished. The ECA submitter meant to identify the location of Greenville, SC.
