In the 1850 census Hiram Evans was age 12, born KY and resided in the household of his mother Mary Evans. ^[1]

Hiram Evens married first America Jane Hasting on 16 February 1860 in Carter County, Kentucky. ^[2] In the 1860 census Hiram Evans age 23 born KY and America Evans age 15, born Ohio resided in Carter County, Kentucky. ^[3]

Hiram Evans at the age of 51 married as his second wife Julia Ann Robinson, age 21 on 7 July 1890 in Carter County, Kentucky. ^[4]

Hiram served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He enlisted as a Private in Co. H of the 22nd Kentucky Infantry on 22 October 1861 with his two brothers, William M. Evans and George W. Evans and a brother-in-law, Basil R. James (husband of Mary Ann Evans). Hiram's original military record was recorded using the spelling Hiram Evens or Eveans for his name. ^[5]

He died 1925 and was buried in Carter Co., Kentucky in the Denton Cemetery located on top of the hill of the Denton Baptist Church. ^{[6] [7]}
