Biography

Lydia Heilman was born on 30 Jun 1820, probably in Augustaville, Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, United States where she was baptized on 18 Jul 1820. She was the daughter of Daniel Hileman and Gertrude Diehl. Her baptism sponsors were George Melig and Lydia Deal.^[1]

Lydia married Henry H. Melick, probably around 1843, before the birth of their oldest child. They lived in Lower Augusta Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania from at least 1850-1870.^[2][3][4] By 1880, they had moved to Waverly, Lancaster County, Nebraska.^[5]

Lydia died on 1 Jan 1897 in Waverly, Lancaster County, Nebraska.^[6] She was buried in Rosehill Cemetery in Waverly.^[7]

Disambiguation

• Not to be confused with Lydia (Wolf) Malick (1829-1893) (FamilySearch profile) who was married to a Henry E Malick and also lived in Lower Augusta Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania in the mid to late 1800's. Note that Henry H. Melick (husband of Lydia (Hileman) Melick) and Henry E Malick (husband of Lydia (Wolf) Malick) are listed as brothers in the FamilySearch tree, which seems unlikely to be accurate given that they were living at the same time and both named Henry.
