Thanks for contacting me, but I disagree with your finding of Eugene's mother. His mother was Elizabeth Ann "Eliza" Marriott, daughter of William Marriott and Ellen Burtle. I am adding a small bio of Simon Marchant as such:
Simon Boliver Marchant entered the Confederated Army as a spy. The Union Army captured him. As preparations were being made to hang him, a company of Confederated forces, under the leadership of Bill (William) Housewright came and rescued him.
After the war, Simon's health began to fall. In 1871 his wife died in her 24th year. After the death of his wife, Simon took the children to live with their grandparents, William and Ellen Marriott.
The daughter listed in the 1880 Census was Sophia Ellen who was the last child of William and Ellen and 15 years younger than Eliza. Sophia married Patrick Neilon. Sincerely, Dona Marriott Donaldson, San Antonio, TX
It looks like he is the son of Sophia Marriott and Simon Bolivar Marchant. I found him in the 1880 Census living with his grandparents after his mother passed away. I'll go ahead and attach his parents.
