Biography

Marshall Fenwick Umpleby was born 23 January 1933 in Englewood, New Jersey.^[1]

Marshall F. Umpleby, age 28, was married to Miriam J. Solomon, age 26, in San Mateo, California, on 25 March 1961. ^[2] Marshall and "Mimi" Umpleby lived in San Mateo for 39 years before retiring to Ashland, Oregon, in 2000. They raised two daughters, Sarah and Amy.^[1]

An item published in the San Mateo Times newspaper on 7 March 1961 announced the engagement of Miriam Jane Sessions of Millbrae (California) and Marshall Fenwick Umpleby of Burlingame (California). According to the announcement, she was the daughter of Mrs. LeRoy Hunter of Seattle, Washington, and an airline stewardess who had attended the University of Washington and San Francisco State College. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall J. Umpleby of Englewood, New Jersey, and a graduate of Wesleyan University who had spent four years as a U.S. Navy jet pilot, had subsequently studied at San Francisco State College, and was teaching English and journalism at Burlingame High School. They planned to marry on 25 March.^[3]

He died in Ashland, Oregon, on 16 October 2016.^[1]
