Patience Shields was born in 1808 in Greene County, Tennessee, daughter of Dyer Phillips and Patience Clay.
Around 1829, she married Solomon Beals and they had nine known children.
The exact date of her death is not known; it was sometime between September 1870 and June 1880, based on US Census records. Patience was first buried at Eason Cemetery and reinterred at Mount Sinai United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mosheim, Greene County, Tennessee.
