Amasa Alexander Patterson, b 1764 is the son of Alexander Patterson, b 1705. He is the father of Alexander Patterson b. 1797, grandfather of Alexander Seymour Patterson and great grandfather of William Turner Patterson, not father. William Turner is my great-grandfather.
According to the Barbour Collection records for Amasa, he did have a son named William who was born in 1786, but William's birth record does not show a middle name.
You are correct Lou. Amasa Alexander Patterson was the son of William Patterson and grandson of Alexander Patterson, b 1705.
I corrected William Alexander to Alexander. I'd found some information that Alexander, born in 1705 was sometimes referred to as William so I listed his name as William Alexander. I think that's where all the confusion began. There were a lot of Alexander's and Williams in my family history, so it's been a job to sort them all out. The two names have been carried down as far as my brother, born in 1956.
