Rev. Oscar O. Watson (March 26, 2002) Rev. Oscar O. Watson of Madisonville, passed away at 9:05 p.m., Tuesday, March 26, at his home. He was a well-known Monroe County minister, who was ordained into the ministry in 1961. He pastored several area churches in Monroe and McMinn counties from 1961 to 1995. He was a member of Notchey Creek Baptist Church; a veteran of World War II; and retired from Alcoa Aluminum Co. He was 77. Preceded in death by: parents, Samuel M. and Elsie B. Watson; sister, Cora Cooley; brother, Normal Watson; and infant brother, R.L. Watson. Survivors include: wife of 56 years-Bonnie Isbill Watson; Daughter and son-in-law-Sharon and Carl Morrison of Etowah; Son and daughter-in-law-Ron and Barbara Watson of Madisonville; Granddaughter and spouse-Rachel and Brian Matoy of Madisonville; Grandsons and spouses-Chad and Heather Watson of Madisonville; SSgt. Kyle and Misty Nivens of Whiteman AFB, Mo.; and Steven Nivens of Etowah; Sister and brother-in-law-Louise and George Arnold of Madisonville; Sister-in-law-Roberta Watson of Maryville; Several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 8 p.m., Thursday at Notchey Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Gale Miller and Vernon Watson officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m., Friday, in Notchey Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Notchey Creek Baptist Church Tape Ministry. Arrangements by Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Madisonville.
