Biography

Jane Lucy Young was born in Pennsylvania on March 7, 1798 to John Young and Elizabeth Kennedy. She married Jacob Bear and they had several children. In the 1850 census they are listed as: Charles, Adaline, Emily and Kennedy. In the 1860 Census they are listed as: Richard M, Adeline, Mary F., Emely, James K (Kennedy), Mary W., John J. and William C. Bear. F Bear.

Richard Bear was listed as 41 in the 1860 census, so was born about 1819. This would make the marriage of Jane and Jacob about 1818. Charles Bear is listed as 24 in the 1850 census so must have been born in 1824. William "C." Bear is listed as 5 years old in the 1860 census and Jacob had died in 1858, so he could have been a grandson. Likewise Mary W. Bear (12) and John J. Bear (9) were probably grandchildren.

Jane died February 12, 1868 in Mount Jackson, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. She is buried in the Mount Jackson Battery B. M. E. Cemetery.
