Biography

David Marshall Greer was married 2 times to Selina Keller and Bertha Rambo. David had a total of 10 children and 4 step children.

My Grandmother, Beulah Jeanette Greer - David's daughter, told me her father walked from Watauga County, NC to Doeville in Johnson County, TN to marry her mother, Bertha Rambo. My Grandmother also told me (and I have seen the old homeplace as well) they were just a poor little family trying to survive like most families during the Great Depression and etc. The family lived in a 4-5 room house and they had a big family. I couldn't imagine how hard it was. She told me David (her Daddy) had a small bed off to the side, out of the way in their kitchen. One night my grandmother & her brother, Dolphus, were in the bed with they're momma, Bertha. David called to Bertha from the kitchen. I am assuming that David wanted time alone with his wife...LoL. My Grandmother said she reached over and pinched Dolphus so he would start crying and her momma would come back. Bertha came back to her children.
